Respect The Wig

2 day workshop – This is part 1 of a 4 part wig workshop program.

Respect the wig is an introduction to how and why wigs should be treated with respect, so you can achieve the best results, but also keep your wig in beautiful condition. 

You will learn the difference between wig types/styles and which wigs will work best for different situations.

We will help you build a strong foundation of understanding wigs, how they should be treated, so you can gain the respect and trust of your employers, fellow stylists and cast.

Workshop Includes:

    • Understanding different types of wigs, how they are made, what situations they are best suited for.
    • How best to treat, handle and clean the lace front.
    • Learn WHY and HOW to pad a head block to fit a wig correctly.
    • Learn how best to block your wig to protect it, maintain shape and longevity.
    • Learn how to wash wigs safely to minimize damage.
    • How to do a NATURAL wet set.
    • How to do a ROLLER wet set.
    • Small take home blocking kit.

Work That Wig, Own That Wig

(don’t let it own you)

2 day workshop – This is part 2 of a 4 part wig workshop program.

A continuation of RESPECT THE WIG, this workshop will help you understand what works and what doesn’t in creating the illusion of a real head of hair.

Understanding the subtleties that can help change your wig game, help to guide your eye to see more refined detail, so your cast will really feel that it is their own head of hair, your director won’t have to fear wigs and your fellow stylists will wonder how you made it look so good.

In this workshop students will Block, wash, set/style and apply 2 wigs.  We will go over multiple ways to prep the hair for the wig to be applied.

Workshop Includes:

  • Padding and Blocking.
  • Washing and Setting.
  • Styling and Finishing.
  • Learn multiple techniques to prepare hair to go under a wig and understand what techniques work best for what situations.
  • Apply your set and styled wigs.
  • Learn to understand what works and what doesn’t when it comes to setting and application.
  • Understand what will help your wigs look like a real head of hair.
  • Learn correct techniques for wig removal, for your wig and cast member.

Note: It is highly recommended that you attend our RESPECT THE WIG workshop before attending WORK THAT WIG, OWN THAT WIG workshop.

Wigs On A Budget

1 day workshop – This is part 3 of a 4 part wig workshop program.

Learn techniques to help you turn that wiggy wig into a more believable head of hair.

Our industry has many different types of projects, with many different types of budgets, whether that be time, money or time and money. These techniques will help you to be able to achieve those looks your employer is after, whether it be for cast, background, stunts or all three.

Note: It is highly recommended that you attend both our RESPECT THE WIG and WORK THAT WIG, OWN THAT WIG workshops before attending WIGS ON A BUDGET workshop.

Make Friends With Your Wigmaker

 1 day workshop – This is Part 4 of a 4 part wig workshop program.

Understand the work that goes into making your custom made wig from start to finish, so you can better understand how to work with your wig-maker.

Learn how to communicate with your wig-maker to be able to help you both create an end result that you are both proud of and works for your project.

Learn how to create a head pattern and measurements for your wig-maker.

Learn different options your wig-maker may be able to offer you to help you achieve the desired end result.

Additional Information

  • Classes will be run by Hairstylist Jaime Leigh McIntosh and Wig Maker Rob Pickens from WigMaker Associates
  • All classes are a mix of theory and hands on work.
  • Classes will have limited spaces, a maximum of only 10 students per workshop.
  • All wigs and head blocks will be provided for the workshops.
  • Students will need to bring a basic kit with them to their workshop.
  • Workshops will be based in Beverly Hills, California.
